Word-First NFP 501(c)(3) is more than an organization—it’s a movement for peace, education, and unity. Founded in Chicago, we work to bring communities together through dialogue, education, and positive action.

Programs & Services

Racism Education

At Word-First NFP 501(c)(3), we focus on creating safe, strong, and unified communities through education, prevention, and relationship-building. One of our core services is Racism Education, which draws on the book “The Beginning of the Ending of Racism in America: Black & White” by Elaine and Richard Sharp Jr. (2018). Through workshops and discussions, we explore critical racism theory, morals, and principles that help participants better understand the roots of racism and learn how to challenge it in their daily lives.

Violence Prevention

We are equally dedicated to Violence Prevention, particularly among young people and families. Our campaign, “Let’s Talk About! Not Shoot About!”, provides safe spaces and positive alternatives to violence. By creating opportunities for open dialogue, mentoring, and youth engagement, we empower children and teenagers to choose love and understanding over anger and conflict.

Community Building

Another important aspect of our work is Community Building. We believe true change happens when neighbors come together, so we host events such as Unity to the Community, designed to encourage coalition-building and new relationships. These gatherings help break down barriers, strengthen bonds, and inspire a sense of shared responsibility for the well-being of our neighborhoods.

Family Support and Guidance

Finally, we provide Family Support and Guidance, recognizing that strong families are the foundation of strong communities. Through workshops, mentoring, and direct support, we assist parents and children in building healthier, more resilient homes. By combining education, prevention, and community care, Word-First NFP 501(c)(3) creates an environment where people can learn to love one another as we love ourselves.
